OVERVIEW

DAY 1: Departure to Colombia

DAY 2: Experience the city like a real Bogotan.

DAY 3: Departure to the Amazon and installation in an ecolodge located in the middle of the forest. Take a night walk in the forest!.

DAY 4: Exchange with the Tikuna indigenous community, dance with the indigenous children and walk in the forest. Take a boat ride on the river to watch the spectacular pink dolphins.

DAY 5: Observe the giant lotus, interact with the monkeys, talk with a Tikuna shaman or visit the second largest city in the Amazon, Puerto Nariño.

DAY 6 : Return to Leticia to catch a flight to Medellin.

DAY 7 : Exchange with the inhabitants of Medellin about the transformation of the city with an English-speaking guide.

DAY 8 : Departure to Bahia Solano (or Nuquí), in the Colombian Pacific.

DAY 9 : Boat trip to watch the humpback whales during their annual passage in the country.

DAY 10: Visit the Ensenada de Utría, enjoy a walk in the forest and some time at leisure in the beach. Go snorkeling.

DAY 11 : Return to Medellin and visit the impressive Peñol Rock and Guatapé Dam.

DAY 12 : Departure to Cartagena de Indias, the Pearl of the Caribbean.

DAY 13 : Go fishing with the fishermen of Cartagena! Take a local cooking class with the fishermen’s wives.

DAY 14 : Spend your day at leisure.

DAY 15 : Transfer to the airport to catch your flight back home.

DAY 1: DEPARTURE FOR COLOMBIA

The D-day has finally arrived. Departure to Colombia:

  • Arrival in Colombia.
  • Welcome at the airport and transfer to your hotel.
  • Overnight in Bogotá.

DAY 2: BECOME A BOGOTAN FOR THE DAY

 

Explore the best of the city and experience the city like a true Bogotan with this activity.

  • Take a guided tour of the city center and learn about Colombia’s history.
  • Visit the Plaza de Bolívar, the Palace of Justice, the Primada Cathedral and the Casa de Nariño, the Presidential Palace, etc.
  • Enjoy delicious exotic fruits and local snacks.
  • Discover the Gold Museum which houses more than 35,000 gold objects and the Botero Museum.
  • Participation in the explosive game of “Tejo”.
  • Overnight in Bogota.

DAY 3: THE AMAZON JUNGLE

 

Called the lung of the planet, the Amazon rainforest is more impressive than you can imagine.

  • Transfer to Bogotá airport and flight to Leticia.
  • Flight over a green “ocean” that will take your breath away.
  • Welcome at the airport and transfer by boat to your hotel, an ecolodge located 1h30 away from Leticia for a total immersion in the largest rainforest in the world.
  • Night walk, the forest is very different at night.
  • Dinner.
  • Overnight in the Amazon.

DAY 4: IMMERSION IN THE FOREST

 

Choose 2 activities from the list below according to your interests:

  • Have a walk in the natural reserve Matamata, located in the limit of the Amacayacu National Park.  A boat will be waiting for you at the end of the walk to take you down to the hotel (if the water level allows it).
  • Artisanal fishing on the Mocagua Island.
  • Visit to El Vergel to meet local children who perform traditional songs and dances of the Tikuna culture.
  • Boat ride to the Peruvian border to watch pink dolphins and the sunset on the Amazonas River.
  • Visit to the community of Mocagua to learn all about the indigenous culture.
  • Lunch and dinner included at the ecolodge.
  • Overnight in the Amazon.

DAY 5: THE LARGEST RIVER IN THE WORLD

 

Choose 2 activities from the list below according to your interests:

  • Explore Puerto Nariño, the 2nd “city” of the Amazonas region. Lunch. Visit the surrounding lakes by boat (with the possibility of watching ink dolphins). This is a full day activity.
  • Visit the Machuiga Foundation, a center for orphaned monkeys and survivors of illegal trafficking.
  • Walk on the Mocagua Island to observe the giant lotus, the Victoria Regia.
  • Have a talk with a Tikuna shaman about their lifestyle.
  • Lunch and dinner included at the ecolodge.
  • Overnight in the Amazon.

DAY 6: THE CITY OF ETERNAL SPRING

Departure from the Amazon to visit the city of eternal spring, Medellin :

  • After breakfast, transfer to the airport to fly to Medellin.
  • Welcome and transfer to your hotel located in the most exclusive neighborhood of the city.
  • Overnight in Medellin.

DAY 7: MEDELLÍN, FROM TERROR TO INNOVATION

Much has been written about Medellin’s transformation. It has gone from being one of the most dangerous cities in the world to one of the most pleasant in Latin America:

  • Discover the city and its innovative public transportation system integrating the popular neighborhoods.
  • Share with the inhabitants of Medellin their feelings about their history.
  • Visit the Plaza Botero with the sculptures of the renowned Colombian artist, Fernando Botero.
  • Spend your afternoon at leisure.
  • Overnight in Medellin.

DAY 8: THE COLOMBIAN PACIFIC

 

Declared the wettest area on the planet, it is also the one with the largest number of animal and plant species:

  • Transfer to the airport and flight to Bahia Solano.
  • IT IS ALSO POSSIBLE TO MAKE A STAY IN NUQUI INSTEAD OF BAHIA SOLANO.
  • Welcome at the airport and transfer by boat to your beautiful ecolodge located by the sea.
  • Lunch of fresh fish caught in the morning.
  • Spend your afternoon at leisure to enjoy the beach or discover the surroundings of the hotel.

DAY 9: THE MAGNIFICENT HUMPBACK WHALES

After the gestation period that lasts between 10 to 12 months, the humpback whales return to the Colombian Pacific to give birth to their babies. They will then stay there until they become stronger to face the cold of the Antarctic.

  • Boat ride to watch the magnificent humpback whales up close.
  • Lunch at ecolodge.
  • Walk in the nature reserve of the ecolodge.
  • Dinner.

DAY 10: WALK AND MEET WITH THE LOCALS

 

La Ensenada de Utría is a unique National Natural Park because it has several ecosystems, from marine to rainforest.

  • Boat ride for 35 minutes to la Ensenada de Utría.
  • Walk in the national natural park to discover its fauna and flora.
  • Go snorkeling to marvel at the marine riches of the park.
  • Return to the ecolodge.
  • Dinner.
  • Overnight at Bahia Solano.

DAY 11: PEÑOL ROCK AND GUATAPÉ DAM

  • Return by boat to the airport to fly back to Medellin.
  • Visit the famous Peñol Boulder in Guatapé with your private car and driver for the day.
  • Climb up the steps to the top of the rock to enjoy a breathtaking view of the Guatapé dam.
  • Dozens of small islands form a beautiful landscape in this artificial lake.
  • Visit of the colorful village of Guatapé.
  • Return to Medellin.

DAY 13: THE FISHING VILLAGE AND THE MARSH OF THE VIRGIN

  • La Boquilla is a fishing village located only 30 minutes from Cartagena.

    • Boat trip out to the sea with the local fishermen to learn how to fish with a line, tarraya.
    • Learn how to catch a lobster with a cage.
    • Observation of the colourful and beautiful Caribbean birds.
    • Visit of the mangroves, a very rich and important marine ecosystem.
    • Return to the village with the results of your morning of fishing!.
    • Cooking workshop with the fishermen’s wifes to learn all the local recipies.
    • Typical lunch made by yourself.
    • Spend your afternoon at leisure.

DAY 14: DAY AT LEISURE IN CARTAGENA

 

Cartagena de Indias played a key role in the administration of the Spanish empire and in the slave trade. Filled with historical buildings and anecdotes of all kinds, the city will not leave you indifferent.

  • Spend the day at leisure.
  • Possibility of visiting Palenque, the first village of free slaves in the Americas, or a day trip to the Rosario Islands located 1 hour away by boat (optional).
  • Possibility to visit the castle of San Felipe, a military fortress of the city (optional).
  • Overnight in Cartagena.

DAY 15 : RETURN HOME
