Day 1: Departure for Colombia

The day has finally arrived. Departure from France towards Colombia.

  • Arrival in Bogota
  • Welcome at the airport by your driver
  • Transfer and installation in your hotel located in the historic center of the city
  • Night in Bogota

Day 2: Bogotá, 2,600 meters closer to the stars

 

Bogota is the most important cityin the country at the political, economic and cultural level. With more than 8,000,000 inhabitants and located 2,600 meters above sea level, Bogota is the 3rd highest capital in the world, after La Paz and Quito. p>

  • Visit to the historic center of Bogota, La Candelaria, accompanied by your guide.
  • Discovery of Plaza Bolivar named after the liberator Simon Bolívar, the Palace Lievano, Bogota City Hall, the Palace of Justice, the National Capitol, the Primada Cathedral, the Casa de Nariño and the Presidential Palace.
  • Free afternoon.
  • Night in Bogota.

 

Day 3: YOPAL AND THE GUANAPALO RESERVA

 

The Oénoque is a very biodiverse region with more than 300 species of mammals, 1300 species of birds, 250 species of reptiles, etc.

  • Travel to the airport to fly to Los Llanos, in Yopal, the capital of Casanare.
  • Welcome at the airport and transfer by 4×4 to the “El Encanto de Guanapalo” nature reserve.
  • Accommodation in a “Hato”, or typical house.
  • Delicious lunch.
  • Walking in the reserve.
  • Return to the reserve and dinner.
  • Night at los Llanos.

Day 4: LOS LLANOS SAFARI

 

The reserve has a wide variety of local wildlife and birds that inhabit these floodplains. It is a very well preserved ecosystem.

  • Start of the day with the guide who will teach you how to milk a cow!
  • Departure in Curiara, a traditional canoe for artisanal fishing.
  • Lunch.
  • Safari Llanero to observe animals.
  • Unique experience in the evening listening to the myths and legends typical of this region of Colombia.
  • Dinner
  • Night at the reserve.

Day 5: ENCANTO DE GUANAPALO

 
  • Workshop on local gastronomy or typical artisanal products fromlos Llanos, it’s up to you!
  • Lunch.
  • Visit on horseback or in 4×4 of the other hatos to fully discover the llanera culture.
  • Dinner.
  • Night at the reserve.

Day 6: FIRST CITY IN LATIN AMERICA

 

Santa Marta is the first city built by the Spanish in South America. It is located between the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta(highest coastal massif in the world, with 5,775 m altitude just 42km from the sea) and the Caribbean Sea .

  • Breakfast.
  • Transfer to Yopal airport and flight to Santa Marta.
  • Welcome and transfer to your hotel in the historic center.
  • Night in Santa Marta.

Day 7: MINCA AND THE SIERRA NEVADA OF SANTA MARTA

 

Minca is one of the most popular nature destinations in Colombia. It is located in the heart of the Sierra Nevada, 20 kilometers from Santa Marta. A paradise for lovers of wild nature, animals, hiking, large green spacesand sunsets.

  • Breakfast.
  • Departure to Minca.
  • Walk in the surrounding area to arrive at a waterfall surrounded by lush vegetation.
  • Lunch.
  • Visit to a coffee hacienda.
  • Coffee tour to learn everything about this drink.
  • Return to Santa Marta.
  • Night in Santa Marta.

Day 8: NUEVA VENECIA

 

La Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta is a lagoon complex of great ecological value. It is a fauna and flora sanctuary. Nueva Veneciais a stilt house village of approximately 300 fishing families.

  • Breakfast
  • Transfer to the river port of Cienaga.
  • Travel by speed boat to Nueva Venecia.
  • Observation of caimans, monkeys, manatees, iguanas, otters, brown herons, needle ducks, pelicans, etc.
  • Lunch.
  • Canoe trip of the main places of the village.
  • Return by boat then by car to Santa Marta.
  • Night in Santa Marta.

Day 9: SANTA CRUZ DE MOMPOX

 

Magical realism permeates everything here. Gabriel García Márquez, in his novel “The General in his Labyrinth”, refers to the glorious past of Santa Cruz de Mompox.</p >

  • Breakfast.
  • Transfer to Mompox.
  • Free afternoon to stroll around the village.
  • Night in Mompox.

Day 10: THE PIJIÑO MARSH

 

The amazing feeling of discovering Mompox in the middle of nowhere is also felt after descending the river into the Pijiño marsh.

  • Canoe trip in the Pijiño marsh.
  • Observation of typical birds of the Magdalena River
  • Return to the hotel.
  • Night in Mompox.

Day 11: ARRIVAL IN CARTAGENA

 

Cartagena de Indias has important fortifications and one of the most comprehensive systems of military fortifications in South America. The city of Cartagena de Indias and its fortress are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 12: THE PEARL OF THE CARIBBEAN

Day 13: THE ROSARIO ISLANDS

 

The Rosario Islands archipelago located in the Caribbean Sea has 27 easily accessible islands. It is a Natural National Park and is home to a beautiful coral reef.

  • Possibility of doing scuba diving as well as snorkeling (mask and snorkel) optional. li>
