DAY 1: DEPART FOR COLOMBIA

The D day has finally arrived. Departure from France towards Colombia:

  • Arrival in Bogota
  • Welcome at the airport by your driver
  • Transfer and installation in your hotel located in the historic center of the city
  • Night in Bogota.

DAY 2 :2,600 METERS CLOSER TO THE STARS

 
  • Discover the capital of Colombia, which is after La Paz and Quito, the 3rd highest capital in the world.
  • Go with your guide to visit La Candelaria, the historic district of the city with its Baroque and Spanish colonial style houses.
  • Visit the magnificent Gold Museum which houses more than 35,000 gold pieces
  • Visit the Botero Museum, a Colombian artist known for his figures with volume
  • Night in Bogota.

DAY 3 : THE AMAZON JUNGLE

 
  • Called the lungs of the planet, the Amazon jungle is more impressive than we can imagine.
  • Transfer to Bogotá airport to fly to Puerto Leticia, the capital of the Amazon department.
  • You will fly over a green “ocean” that will take your breath away.
  • Reception at the airport then transfer to your hotel by boat, a lodge located 1h30 from Leticia for a complete immersion in the largest forest in the world.
  • Take a night walk, the forest is very different at night.

DAY 4: IMMERSION IN THE FOREST

Choose two activities from the list below according to your interests:

  • Go for a walk in the Matamata nature reserve. Located on the edge of the Amacayacu Park, a boat is waiting for you to go down again to the hotel (if the water level allows it).
  • Go artisanal fishing on Mocagua Island
  • Visit El Vergel to meet local children who recount the traditional songs and dances of the Ticuna culture.
  • Boat trip to the Peruvian border to observe pink dolphins and the sunset on the Amazonas River.
  • Visit the community of Mocagua to learn all about indigenous culture.

DAY 5: THE LARGEST RIVER IN THE WORLD

 

Choose two activities from the list below according to your interests:

  • Take a detour to Puerto Nariño to have lunch and see the surrounding lakes (with the possibility of seeing pink dolphins, unique in the world). Full day activity, lunch included.
  • Visit to the Machuiga Foundation, a center for orphaned monkeys and survivors of illegal trafficking.
  • Tour on Mocagua Island to observe the giant lotus, the Victoria Regia.
  • Discussion with a Ticuna shaman about their lifestyle.
  • Lunch and dinner included.

DAY 6: THE AMAZONIAN JUNGLE

 
  • Return to Leticia airport to fly to Neiva, the capital of the department of Huila.
  • Reception at the airport then transfer to the hotel.
  • Free afternoon.
  • Night in Neiva.

DAY 7: SAN AGUSTIN ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK

 
  • Transfer to San Agustin.
  • Visit the San Agustín Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a collection of religious monuments and megalithic sculptures in the heart of the Andes mountain range.
  • 300 monumental sculptures dot this park, testifying to the art of a civilization that reached its peak during the first eight centuries of our era.
  • The origin of the carvings remains mysterious because most of the site has not yet been excavated and no trace of writing has been discovered.
  • Night in San Agustin.

DAY 8: THE WHITE CITY OF COLOMBIA

 
  • Transfer to Popayán .
  • Along the way, enjoy the beautiful Páramo, a unique tropical highland ecosystem.
  • On arrival, take a walking tour of the city accompanied by your French-speaking guide.
  • The best architects and artisian of the colonial era intervened in Popayán which is with Cartagena de Indias, one of the most important cities of Colombia for its architecture. It is known as the white city.
  • Popayán is also the only city in Latin America to have been declared a gastronomic city by UNESCO for its unique culinary traditions.

DAY 9: THE SILVIA MARKET

 
  • In the morning transfer to Silvia.
  • Free visit of the village of Silvia in order to participate in the magnificent market.
  • The indigenous Guambianos descend from all over the valley to sell all types of products: potatoes, fruits, vegetables, traditional clothes, etc.
  • Men and women wear the same outfit: dark blue skirt, light blue poncho with pink edges, black hat and shoes with orange laces.
  • It’s an exotic ambience.
  • Return to Popayan.
  • Night in Popayan.

DAY 10: 1ST CITY IN LATIN AMERICA

  • Transfer to Popayan airport.
  • Flight with scale to Santa Marta.
  • Reception and transfer to your hotel.
  • Santa Marta is the first city built by the Spaniards in South America.
  • Founded on July 29, 1525, it is located between the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta (highest coastal massif in the world, with 5,775 m of altitude just 42 km from the sea) and the Caribbean Sea.
  • Night in Santa Marta.

DAY 11: GOTSEZHY

 
  • Leave early in the morning in a 4×4 car and cross the exuberant forest of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta for 1 hour.
  • You will arrive at a Wiwa/Kogui village. Your native host will show you the refuge and its surroundings.
  • Speak with the Mamo and receive the “aseguranza”, the protection of the Sierra symbolized by a bracelet.
  • Take a 20-minute walk and visit the sacred Dununeika Waterfall.
  • Return to the village and typical lunch with your hosts.
  • End with a discussion on the extraction of maguey fibers and the weaving of mochilas. Return by 4×4 car to your hotel.

DAY 12: CABO DE LA VELA TO LA GUAJIRA

 
  • Wake up early in the morning to discover the magnificent region of La Guajira.
  • Start with the city of Uribia, considered the capital of indigenous culture in Colombia, then continue to Cabo de la Vela crossing the Guajira desert.
  • Typical lunch, then free time to rest or enjoy a swim in the sea.
  • Visit the most emblematic places of this magnificent place: the lighthouse, the sacred mountain, the Ahuyama desert and then the golden beach where you can swim in an idyllic setting.
  • Cabo de la Vela is very popular for sports such as kitesurfing and windsurfing.
  • Continuation towards the sugar loaf to observe an incredible sunset.
  • Night Cabo de la Vela, homestay.
  • The accommodations are Rancherias made with mud and yotojoro (the heart of the cactus). It is a unique and comfortable experience.

DAY 13: PUNTA GALLINAS, THE FAR NORTH

 
  • Morning transfer to Punta Gallinas, the northernmost point of Colombia and South America.
  • Visit the lighthouse, the lookout , the oasis and the desert of Taroa to admire the very beautiful dunes. Enjoy free time to rest or swim in the sea.
  • Then observation of flamingos. The flamingo is a species of bird known for its pink plumage, long legs and long neck. Its flamboyant color is due to a diet composed mainly of crustaceans.
  • Enjoy the sunset from the superb Punta Aguja beach.
  • Night in Punta Gallinas.

DAY 14: PALOMINO

  • Return to Riohacha crossing the desert.
  • Meet a Wayúu family, the indigenous community of the region.
  • Learn about their customs, traditions and flirting rituals! It’s very interesting.
  • Taste a typical dish.
  • Transfer to Palomino.
  • Night in Palomino.

DAY 15: TAYRONA PARK

 
  • Transfer to the entrance of the Park and start right away with a stroll through a lush forest to the magnificent beach of Arrecifes.
  • Continuation to “the pool” where swimming is allowed and Cabo San Juan to enjoy a bath in the Caribbean Sea.
  • With 32km2 of maritime area, the Tayrona National Natural Park is home to dozens of wild and wonderful beaches.
  • It is the habitat of hundreds of species of birds and mammals unique in the world.
  • Return at the end of the afternoon to the hotel.
  • Night in Santa Marta.

DAY 16: CARTAGENA DE INDIES

 
  • Transfer to Cartagena.
  • Installation in your hotel.
  • Cartagena de Indias has important fortifications and one of the most complete systems of military fortifications in South America .
  • The city of Cartagena de Indias and its fortress are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites .

DAY 17: THE HISTORY OF CARTAGENA

 
  • Cartagena de Indias is also known as the “heroic” and evokes colonial times, flavors, colors and smells, you will find the essence of Colombia.
  • Fall under the spell of its historic center, the smile of the palenqueras (women who sell exotic fruits in the street), typical dances, music that animates the streets, sunsets under the hot and humid air of the Caribbean .

DAY 18: GOODBYE COLOMBIA
