The geography of Colombia
On Colombia’s doorstep, the Andes divide into 3 ranges: the Cordillera Oriental, the Cordillera Central and the Cordillera Occidental. For this reason, Colombia is a very mountainous country, and overland travel can be a little slow. Colombia is also a country rich in water resources, meaning that we have a lot of rivers! The country’s most important river is known as the Magdalena and it runs for around 1,540km across the country. Discover our ideas for holidays in the Andean region here.
